New Retro Laser Beam is a project on which i worked, as a game designer during my 5th student year at IIM. It's a rail shooter that is inspired by the Playlink's games. Each player has to use a phone as a controller, and the game screen is displayed on a computer. Each player is shooting a continuous laser with his phone. Both have a different laser (yellow and blue) they have to shoot the enemies matching their laser's color.
My role on this project was to think, with other designers about all the features that will be implemented in the final game, and how they will interact between them. I also worked with developers to implement the camera system that we're using (Cinemachine with Unity) and to explain it to the designers. I also worked on different design documents, as creative briefs to explain how the game is played, and how player will get pickable items.
I also worked on the integration of the camera in the game. I used Cinemachine plugin in Unity to create a rail that the camera will follow, and that will stop at particular points (where enemies spawn) . I worked with level designers and followed their documents to implement it, and i directly modify every enemies values to balance the game.'s global difficulty. I also worked on the integration of the enemies animation and sprites created by the artists.
Here is a walkthrough of the level we integrated in the game. In this walkthrough, I play alone, but keep in mind that the game is made for two players.
